Hello guys, (and all of my new followers, thanks for subscribing)
Recently, I've been thinking of names for characters and trying to add faces. You know what I mean, yes? Well, I noticed that a lot of my main characters' name sort of start with the same letter. Let me give you a run down of some names. (And Yes, some of these are subject to change. Noted by a cute little *)
Of course all of these characters are not in the same novel, (that'd just be over kill), but do you notice the repetition of (H) and (A). It used to be more but I have toned it down a bit.
I haven't read any recent posts on the importance of names, so I'll give you my opinion. (Because, of course, you care)
Each character has an identity. And a name is one of the best ways to remember a character. You agree?
I don't pick my characters names. (believe it or not). They pick their own names. Why they choose them, who knows, but I don't argue.
Some of their names have a meaning like Aiden. His name means little fire in gaelic* (don't quote me on the Gaelic part. I think that's what it said *shrug). Then there's Gabriel. Most people may know Gabriel as the name of an ArchAngel. There's Lily, I don't quite remember, but I'm sure it said that her name means purity, or something like that.
Yes, all three of these examples are used figuratively and literally. (Say that ten times fast).
What do you think of names? Who decides your names?
Thanks for reading.
